Hadimba Devi Temple
Hadimba Devi Temple is one of Manali's oldest and most unique temples. It is built in wood, with a tall pagoda-style roof, and sits inside a cool cedar forest just a short walk from Mall Road. The temple is dedicated to Hidimba, wife of Bhima from the Mahabharata, and dates back to the 16th century. Unlike typical stone temples, its dark wooden walls carved with animal and floral patterns give it a mysterious, forest-shrine feel. Visitors also enjoy the surrounding area, where you can take photos with yaks and angora rabbits, try local snacks, and take a peaceful walk among the tall trees.
Solang Valley
Solang Valley is Manali's main hub for snow and adventure sports, located about 14 km from the town. In winter, it turns into a playground for skiing, snowboarding, and snow scooters, while summer brings paragliding, zorbing, and a cable car ride with wide valley views. The valley is surrounded by glaciers and snow-capped peaks, making it a favourite spot for photos too. Most activities here cost extra and are not part of standard sightseeing packages. Since it gets crowded on weekends and holidays, an early start helps you enjoy the rides and views without long waiting lines.
Rohtang Pass (permit needed)
Rohtang Pass is a high mountain pass at over 13,000 feet, connecting the Kullu Valley with Lahaul. It stays covered in snow for most of the year and offers stunning views of glaciers, peaks, and winding roads. Because of its fragile environment, the government allows only a limited number of vehicles daily, so a permit must be arranged in advance. The road trip itself is an experience, passing through pine forests and river valleys. Due to weather and road conditions, it's best to check accessibility before planning a visit, especially outside the main summer season.
