Khajjiar is a saucer-shaped meadow at about 2,000 metres on a plateau ringed by cedar forest, roughly an hour from Dalhousie. It earned the nickname "Mini Switzerland" from Willy Blazer, then head of the Swiss Chancery in India, who compared it to alpine meadows back home; Khajjiar was later added to a list of about 160 places worldwide carrying that same "Mini Switzerland" tag.

A yellow signpost near the entrance, styled like a Swiss hiking trail marker, states the meadow's distance from Bern, Switzerland's capital — about 6,194 km — marking the spot's official twinning with Switzerland, sealed by the Swiss Ambassador in 1992.

At the centre of the meadow sits a small lake, partly overgrown with floating grass, and the golden-domed Khajji Nag Temple, dedicated to a local serpent deity and said to be several centuries old. Zorbing, paragliding and horse rides are all available around the meadow's edge.

Dainkund Peak, at 2,755 metres, is the highest point in Dalhousie, about 10 km from the town centre. It is also known locally as the Singing Hill, a name that comes from the sound wind makes moving through the dense pine, deodar and oak forest that covers its slopes — genuinely audible on a windy day rather than just a marketing phrase.

The peak sits inside an Air Force base, so access can be restricted at times, and the small Pholani Devi Temple nearby has no idol, only a trident, which locals consider part of its character rather than an omission. From the top, on a clear day, you can pick out the Ravi, Chenab and Beas rivers threading through the valleys below.

The name Dainkund is thought to come from "Dain-Kund," roughly "Lake of the Witches," referencing older local folklore about the area.

Satdhara means "seven streams," and the waterfall gets its name from seven small springs that converge as they drop from around 2,036 metres through the forested slopes of the Chamba Valley, about 5 to 7 km from Dalhousie depending on the route taken.

The water is locally believed to contain mica and is said to have mild therapeutic properties for skin conditions, though this is folk belief rather than a tested medical claim, and most visitors come simply for the setting — pine and deodar forest framing the falls, with snow-capped peaks visible behind on clear days.

The streams run fullest from July to October, during and just after the monsoon; in the drier months the flow can thin out noticeably, so timing a visit around the monsoon window generally makes for a more dramatic waterfall.
