Shimla, the Queen of Hills
Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and one of India's most loved hill stations. It sits at about 2,205 m in the green hills of the Himalayas, among tall pine and deodar trees.
The British made Shimla their summer capital in 1864. You can still see their old buildings on The Ridge and Mall Road. Today, people come here for the cool air, mountain views, the little toy train and snow in winter.
Shimla is about 115 km from Chandigarh, so it is an easy trip for families, couples and friends. Our Shimla tour package can be planned for any season in this guide, with hotels and a private cab from Chandigarh.

What should I wear in Shimla in winter?
From December to February pack a heavy jacket, thermals, woollen cap, gloves and waterproof shoes with good grip, because the roads and Mall Road get icy. Even summer evenings need a light jacket.
